Today, we came in early so we could refilm and begin editing in periods 1 and 2. We managed to film everything, making sure we had various shots of each scene, by half way through period 2. We then made the theme tune and began editing.
Later on, in our double in periods 5 and 6, we will finish editing and complete all of our extra work - finalise the storyboard etc. Hopefully we will finish in time!

Theme tune
Over the top of our video, we wanted some sort of theme tune for the chat show. This would act as a sound bridge throughout. As inspiration, we looked at theme tunes for popular TV chat shows like Alan Carr's Chatty Man and the Paul O'Grady show.
We created it on Garageband with Latin sounding instruments and a voiceover.
The voicover says:
"Tonight, on the Letti Latina show.......
The hot host is joined the the the hot, the spicy, and the fabulous mama consuela!!!!"
Once put together it sounded brilliant.
We will upload a video soon!

Sad times :-(
So a member of our team has left, meaning that we had to spend two lessons doing the storyboard he didn't bring in. We are now rushing to finish!
Our first lot of filming turned out to be not good enough to use, as reflected lights were found on surfaces behind the actors. We are planning to refilm all of our work and then edit everything tomorrow.

Our main idea
For our final idea, we want to focus on a comedy chat show theme. For example, like Alan Carr Chatty Man.
We'd have the main celebrity guest, the diva Mama Consuela running late - but not caring. Meanwhile, the producers are panicking, not knowing where she is. The host, Letti Latina is also getting fidgety with the suspense of whether she'd turn up or not.
She eventually turns up, saunters in and sits on the sofa looking bored.

Shot Reverse Shot & The 180 Degree Rule
Shot reverse shot allows editing to create a smooth conversation, changing from one face to another. It could also be used at high speed to create a dramatic feel, or in a slow speed to create a sense of suspense.
Here is a photograph example of this from a Dr Who videoclip, which has been screenprinted to show the use of shot reverse shot.
The 180 degree rule is where the camera stays on one side of the characters (the 180 degree line). This stops the characters from changing sides, therefore keeping continuity.
Here is a diagram showing this:
This is a video that we made with some other students to show both of these, as well as match on action:

Match On Action
Match on action is when an action in one shot is then mirrored or copied in the next shot at a different angle or perspective. It could be used to connect two different filming locations together to make it seem like the same place, or even just to make edits smoother.
Here is an example from youtube from the American TV show Friends:

The Brief
‘A continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.’ The sequence must last no longer than one minute.
This task should demonstrate:
- Match on Action
- Shot/Reverse Shot
- The 180 degree Rule
